About Me

Hi, I’m Addison Berry (she/they). You can call me Addi.

I’m a queer, non-binary, coach, writer, teacher, and atheist monk. I was born in the United States and lived there through my 30s. I immigrated to Denmark in 2011, where I’ve settled with my Danish wife.

I spend a lot of my time reading and being out in nature in one way or another. I dabble with linocut printing and painting, enjoy gardening and foraging, and have a deeply contemplative practice. I write every day in some form, and I have one (non-fiction, technical) book that has been traditionally published.

Community, connection, and self-reflection are very important to me and I try to live in ways that encourage and support that in myself and others. My main values are Compassion, Courage, Connection, and Integrity.

I have a particular interest in helping others find their own paths, which has led me to becoming a certified coach and creating holistic leadership training programs.

My contemplative life has bounced around my whole life. I was raised Christian, which I took very seriously until the age of 20. I left the church and became a staunch atheist. I was drawn to Buddhism and other meditative practices for many years, but I never did find a solid place to land that answered my existential questions while keeping me free of dogma. Later in life I found Druidry as a community that weaves my reverence for nature with the practicalities of being human on this planet and opening pathways to finding my existential ground. I’m now an atheist Druid monk, where I’ve been able to craft a nature-based contemplative practice within a non-dogmatic and very supportive community.

My Influences and Learning Paths

Of course, I have endless influences in my life. This is a list of the most impactful and the ones that repeatedly show up in my current work in the world.

  • Margaret Wheatley
  • Pema Chodron
  • Aletheia Integral Unfoldment
  • Center for Non-Religious Spirituality
  • Ancient Order of Druids in America (and the Gnostic Celtic Church Monastery)
